Punjab Announces Temporary School Closures Due to Winter Conditions

Punjab School Closures - Winter 2024

In response to the escalating winter weather, interim Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, has taken the decision to temporarily close primary schools for one week, as reported by ARY News.

Addressing the rising cases of pneumonia, the caretaker Chief Minister has opted to extend winter vacations specifically for nursery, grade-I, and prep classes.

Furthermore, there is contemplation within the government to defer examinations across the province for a period of one month.

In light of the prevailing severe cold wave, the interim government has recently announced adjusted school timings for both private and government schools in Punjab. This decision comes as thick fog blankets various regions of the province.

With temperatures falling below average, Chief Minister Naqvi has modified the school timings. According to the recent announcement, classes will commence at 9:30 am starting from January 10, 2024.

“Due to the ongoing winter wave, schools will resume on January 10, 2024. From January 10th to January 22nd, schools will start at 9:30 am,” stated CM Naqvi.

Additionally, the Chief Minister has encouraged students to protect themselves from the cold by wearing jackets and warm clothing as winter tightens its grip.
